Wanderlust Magazine has announced its destination winners for 2022 Travel Awards last Tuesday November 8th, at the Tower of London. Every year, the UK-based multi-award winning magazine asks its tens of thousands of readers to vote on the places which have created the most unforgettable memories and best sensorial experiences.
"Costa Rica has been a perennial favourite of Wanderlust readers for decades, with its Pura Vida joie de vivre mentality and outstanding natural grandeur influencing our readers' votes once again in 2022" said George Kipouros, Wanderlust Editor in Chief, about the Gold Winner.
Throughout the years, Costa Rica has been a pioneer of eco-tourism, with its extraordinary rainforests and coastal environment home to more than 500,000 species, including sloths, toucans, monkeys, jaguars, birds, dolphins, whales and sea turtles.
The award was personally received by William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism. “For Costa Rica to win this award and be recognized by thousands of passionate travelers and Wanderlust readers is an incredible achievement. Our country works day after day to maintain its position as a world leader in sustainability and we will focus on maintaining this position through the promotion of responsible tourism and continuous sustainable initiatives”, he said.
